In case of errors or problems with the Internet connection, try opening the PS4 ports in the router by following the instructions in my tutorial dedicated to the topic. Obviously, for the Internet connection to be established correctly, the console must be physically connected to the router via an Ethernet cable. If, on the other hand, you prefer the connection via Ethernet cable (which generally guarantees greater fluidity in online gaming than Wi-Fi), select the Use a network cable (LAN) from the Settings> Network of PS4 menu and then go on Typical or Custom, depending on whether you want to use the default network settings or if you want to set custom settings (for example, to have a static IP). In this way the PS4 should connect to the Wi-Fi network without any problem. Once all the fields have been filled in, you have to go ahead, set up an automatic MTU and choose not to use proxy servers. This value can also be found easily by giving the command “ipconfig / all” in the Windows Command Prompt. The PS4, within a few seconds, will verify the correctness of the network settings and will connect to the selected network. In the case of connection via Wi-Fi network, you need to select the Typical item, choose the Wi-Fi network to which you want to connect the console and type the corresponding access key.
In the menu that opens, go to Configure Internet Connection and choose whether to connect the PS4 to the Internet via a Wi-Fi network or LAN cable (and then Ethernet cable) by selecting one of the two options available on the screen.
